Crafted at Powdermills has a simple idea for its new series, The London Service: rather than send Sussex diners up to town, bring the town's restaurants down. Once a month, on a Friday, a different London kitchen moves into Crafted's for a single night, bringing its food, its personality and its story along with it, so guests get each place much as it is at home.

First up is Ixchel, the Mexican restaurant on King's Road in Chelsea, where head chef Ximena Gayosso Gonzalez cooks across the breadth of Mexican cuisine with bold flavours and a strong line in drinks. Her team will serve a three-course menu for the night. Morchella follows, then Maison François, which looks to the old dining rooms of Paris, Alsace and Lyon: think oeuf mimosa, crudités with trout roe, and Morteau sausage en croûte with beurre rouge.

In March the series reaches James Knappett of two-Michelin-starred Kitchen Table, who is bringing his precise, ingredient-led cooking and a menu built on seasonal British produce.

The piece reads like a press release and gives no prices or exact dates beyond March, so check with Crafted before planning a trip. For anyone in Sussex who misses London's dining rooms, it is a tempting monthly fixture.
