The Skeleton House
Each Halloween this St Charles Avenue house fills its yard with hundreds of costumed skeletons, every one carrying a pun on a celebrity, musician or film character, and it changes every year.
The story
Every October the owners of this house on St Charles Avenue turn the yard into a huge skeleton display. Hundreds of figures stand in different outfits and accessories, each with its own sign: an undead twist on a famous name, from actors and musicians to movie characters. Recent years brought "Terror Swift" skeletons and a send-up of the Coldplay kiss cam. The displays are spooky rather than gory, which makes the house an easy stop with children and a favourite for photos. New additions appear each year and the theme is redone each season. It is free to walk up and look from outside, and the green St Charles streetcar stops right in front, so it's simple to hop off, read the signs and ride on.
Good to know
TAGGG AI- ✦The green St Charles streetcar stops right outside the house, which is easier than driving since parking can be tough.
- ✦Allow time to read the sign on each skeleton; a careful look can take twenty minutes or more.
