Johan Cruijff Arena

Ajax and the Dutch national team share this stadium, the largest in the Netherlands, which also hosts big concerts and dance events under a roof that can close, plus behind-the-scenes tours.

The story

Named after Johan Cruijff, whose thinking still shapes the place, the ArenA has staged major football matches, concerts and events for 30 years. Its corridors recall the stars the club produced, among them Van Basten and Ibrahimović, and in 2027 it hosts the UEFA Super Cup, the first time the match is played in this form in the Netherlands. For concerts the stage goes at the north end, in the middle or on the east side, and the roof can be closed. Tours come guided or self-guided, with VIP, Kids Day, VR and innovation versions plus pairings with Heineken and Moco. Routes cover both teams' dressing rooms, the players' tunnel, pitchside and trophy areas. Skyboxes for 10 to 20 people overlook the field, and in the stands food is ordered on tablets and collected at the counter.

Good to know

TAGGG AI
  • Book the earliest morning tour for a smaller group; one early slot ran with only three people.
  • Backpacks are not allowed inside, and the nearby lockers close early, so collect your bag before any post-match drinks.
  • The metro is a short walk away but gets very crowded right after concerts, though trains clear the crowd fast.
