FilmHallen

Set in De Hallen, a former tram depot turned hub for culture, food and craft, this cinema mixes arthouse premieres, blockbusters, documentaries and classics, plus VR films and live opera and ballet from London.

The story

The programme runs from new arthouse titles and Hollywood blockbusters to documentaries and well-loved classics. Themed seasons give it shape: a Nineties tribute to the decade's indie cinema, the extended Lord of the Rings trilogy shown with intermissions, and Fast Forward, a recurring series of preview screenings with a supporting programme and film quiz, which also teams up with the Imagine Fantastic Film Festival for fantasy, horror and science fiction. Royal Ballet and Opera performances stream live from Covent Garden, and a selection of VR films sits alongside regular screenings. The Parisienzaal carries more than a century of cinema history. Drinks and snacks can be taken into the film, and the surrounding hall holds Remise 47 for lunch or dinner and the Belcampo reading café of OBA De Hallen for coffee or breakfast.
