WIN, a wine bar, shop and champagne bar in Warsaw's Wola district
Znamy się architectural studio draws on vineyards, cellars and the pour for a multi-part wine venue built around the Enottera team.
WIN gathers several sides of wine culture under one roof in Warsaw's Wola district: a tasting bar, an all-day kitchen, a shop selling wine and deli goods, and a separate champagne bar. It grew out of the experience and enthusiasm of the Enottera team, and the interiors are by Znamy się architectural studio, who took the whole winemaking process, from vine to glass, as their brief.
That shows up in the materials. Raw concrete and terracotta-toned blocks suggest the soils that shape different grapes, metal lines run through the rooms like vineyard rows, and wooden shelving nods to harvest crates. Arched niches and rounded edges soften things, and the bathrooms are a deep indigo meant to recall ripe fruit. At the heart sits a sculptural bar clad in rhythmic geometric tiles, with a livelier bar area and bottle displays giving way to quieter dining rooms for longer meals and tastings.
The shop borrows the mood of an old cellar, with light metal shelving and focused lighting on the bottles, plus terracotta ceramics and pale stone. Smaller touches, such as slender stairs, glass lamps, cork-coloured wood and ornamental glazing, keep the heavier palette from feeling austere.
Worth a look if you like your wine with a sense of place, and handy if you want to take a bottle home after dinner.
