voco Solana Beach - Del Mar reopens on Highway 101 near San Diego
An 80-room hotel steps from Fletcher Cove Beach, renovated with surf-inspired rooms, free conchas and bikes for exploring the town.
Pacifica Host Hotels, which owns and runs the place, has announced in a press release that its 80-room hotel on Highway 101 in Solana Beach has reopened after a complete renovation. It is now the first voco, IHG's premium brand, in San Diego County and the third in Southern California, and it sits a short walk from Fletcher Cove Beach.
The rooms and bathrooms have been fully redesigned in a modern coastal style drawn from the area's surf culture, with a refreshed lobby and exterior. The small touches are the ones you'd remember: complimentary Mexican concha pastries on arrival, a Nespresso machine in every room, filtered water stations and an on-site market stocked with local snacks and drinks. Managing partner Sushil Israni says the brand is about "character and personal touches".
Downstairs, 101 & Vine is a restaurant and bar serving breakfast and dinner, with beer and wine to go with the evening menu. There's an outdoor pool and hot tub, a 24-hour gym, and bicycles for getting around. The shops and galleries of Cedros Avenue and the music venue Belly Up are close by, while Torrey Pines Golf Course and Del Mar Racetrack are a short drive.
A practical, beach-close base for a coastal San Diego weekend, especially if you're heading to the races or a gig.
