Fletcher Cove Beach Park

The story

Down on the sand, the waves bring out surfers, bodyboarders and swimmers, while others fish or hunt for seashells beneath the sea cliffs. A ramp descends from the park to the beach, an easier way down than the neighbouring stretches to the north and south. Outdoor showers and a foot-washing station wait at the top for rinsing off. Up top, the park packs in a lot. There is a compact playground with swings set against the sea and a four-story jumping-mat loop, plus a half basketball court, grassy lawns and picnic tables facing the water. A small amphitheatre hosts group gatherings and the lawn sometimes hosts live music. A hill beside the ramp climbs to a lookout with benches, and a walking trail scented with boxwood looks out over the cliffs, where dolphins often pass. Shops and restaurants sit within walking distance.
