ARWENN opens a furniture gallery, showroom and warehouse on Berlin's Friedrichstraße
A new Berlin furniture brand where you can see pieces at full scale, browse art editions and take your choice home.
ARWENN is a new Berlin furniture brand built on a simple premise: good design should be there when you want it, not after weeks or months of waiting. It was founded this year by Sebastian Schönheit, co-founder of New Tendency, and Ruben Hutschemaekers, formerly of HAY and Magis. The launch collection runs to more than 60 products across seating, tables, lighting, storage and accessories, with designs by Maria Jeglinska-Adamczewska, Moritz Walter, Angel Valiente, Christoph Hauf, Jörg Schellmann, OHA Studio, Studio Losos and Relvão Kellermann alongside the brand's own pieces.
Its first physical space, which opened this month on Friedrichstraße, puts a gallery, showroom and warehouse under one roof, so you can judge proportions and materials at full scale and leave with a piece the same day. Many items are flat-packed, designed to move easily as homes change. Artworks and editions from Schellmann Art are shown throughout and are for sale too. Hutschemaekers calls furniture "emotional, tactile and spatial" and says the shop is where the brand begins, not a marketing channel.
The collection is also sold online, and the founders plan to grow into a European brand with shops at its heart. Worth a stop if you're furnishing a flat in Berlin, or simply curious to see this mix of designers in one room.
