Bar Leone team opens Bar Camillo at Rosewood Hong Kong
Lorenzo Antinori and Justin Shun Wah bring an Italian living-room bar, with a tableside Negroni trolley, to Rosewood Hong Kong.
Rosewood Hong Kong is teaming up with Lorenzo Antinori and Justin Shun Wah, the pair behind Bar Leone, on Bar Camillo. It is a hotel bar modelled on the Italian salotto, the living room where friends gather at home. Antinori wants the energy of a standalone bar and a "cool house party" feel. The idea is fronted by Camillo, a slightly clumsy bartender mascot who stands in for the Italian notion of the welcoming host.
The room is mid-century in spirit, with glossy wood veneers, polished metal and mirrored walls in gold, alpine green and cream. A long banquette draws people to the bar, while lower seats and enclosed corners suit quieter conversations. There is a terrace outside, too.
The menu comes in three parts: dry, refreshing welcome aperitivi, seasonal takes on classic cocktails, and a lighter set of party touches. It changes every quarter. Each edition is themed to a particular season and year, with pop-culture nods, Italian pop music and rotating art on the walls. The detail to look out for is the Negroni Trolley. You choose a base spirit, a garnish and a floral, savoury or rich profile, and the drink is stirred at your table.
The announcement gives no opening date, so check before planning a night around it. Bar Leone regulars will want to keep an eye out.
