Rimrock Banff reopens as Emblems Collection's first North American hotel
A longstanding resort above Banff has been redesigned around its mountain views, with a large new hydrothermal bathhouse.
Rimrock Banff has been part of the town's skyline for a long time, built into the mountainside high above Banff inside the national park. It has now reopened after an extensive redesign as the first North American hotel in Emblems Collection, Accor's small luxury group. The original structure stays; the terraces still step down towards the Bow Valley, but the work has been about pulling the landscape back in through big windows, natural materials and carefully framed views.
There are 320 rooms, 57 of them suites, with beds and chairs placed so the Rockies stay in sight. The palette is warm wood, stone and soft textiles. The top suite opens onto a wraparound terrace with a barrel sauna and a fire table, while Wellness Studio suites add recovery kit and access to a gear-lending programme for heading outdoors.
The real draw is the Bathhouse, billed as Banff's first luxury hydrothermal spa: hot pools, a mountain-facing infinity pool, a salt sauna, steam and glacial cold plunges, plus a suspended meditation room. There's also a gym with climbing and bouldering walls.
The details come from the press release, so there's no word yet on prices. Worth a look for anyone planning a Rockies trip who wants a long soak at the end of the day.
