Two Marriott hotels now share one roof in Uptown Dallas. The Atlanta investment firm Peachtree Group developed the building with Phoenix Development Partners, and its own hospitality division runs it. This is a press release, and it reads like one: a good share of it covers banks and financial firms moving to the city, not the rooms. In total there are 264 rooms, with 110 on the AC Hotel side and 154 on the Moxy side.

The two halves are meant to feel different. AC Hotel Dallas Uptown leans European in its design, with AC Kitchen serving breakfast and the AC Library set aside for work or a quiet hour. Moxy Dallas Uptown is the livelier sibling, with social spaces and Bar Moxy, which serves cocktails, coffee and light bites. Both sides share a 1,000-square-foot fitness centre and flexible meeting rooms.

The part worth knowing about if you aren't staying is High Point, the rooftop bar. It has indoor and outdoor areas with wide views of the skyline, plus a 16-by-9-foot LED wall for private events and game-day viewing. Vickie Callahan of Peachtree says the bar is meant to draw in the neighbourhood as well as guests.

The release gives no prices or street address. It suits business travellers, and anyone after a rooftop drink in Uptown should check the bar's hours first.
