The story
Marriott's playful Moxy brand reached its 49th hotel with this slim building on N Hall St, sitting beside an AC Hotel and close to West Village. SMU, Victory Park and the Katy Trail are within easy reach, and the hotel pitches itself as a base for days out and nights on the town in Uptown. Rooms come in at under 200 square feet, so the design does a lot of work. Each has an industrial edge, a 55-inch TV, built-in USB ports with screencasting, ambient lighting, backlit glass panels, a motion-activated LED guidelight under the bed and a full-height art image. A leather lounge chair and high-thread-count bedding complete the space. Downstairs, the bar doubles as the check-in point, and a rooftop bar sits on top.
