The story
Cradle is the most intimate of the dining rooms at Cromlix Hotel in Kinbuck, sitting alongside the Garden Room, the Glasshouse and the bar. The room is conceived as a calm cocoon, with intuitive service and a pace kept well away from the outside world. It is listed in the MICHELIN Guide under modern cuisine. Nature sets the menu here. Mearing and his team draw on the Cromlix estate and Scottish producers, and a vegetarian tasting menu runs alongside the main one, both backed by a wine list. The tasting menu pairs a sequence of named courses with surprise dishes, and the courses follow one another at a steady, well-judged rhythm rather than dragging out the evening.
