Andaz Turks & Caicos, a new resort on Grace Bay, Providenciales
Hyatt's Andaz brand reveals the design of its first Caribbean island resort, a 132-key, west-facing stay due in spring 2027.
Andaz is bringing its first Caribbean island resort to Grace Bay on Providenciales, a short walk from Bight Reef in Princess Alexandra National Park. RAD Architecture has designed the building and Modus Operandi, working with Hyatt, the interiors. The site faces west, which means sunset views from almost everywhere, something the article notes is unusual on the island.
The arrival is the part you'd remember. It recalls the days when visitors could only reach the islands by boat: a long, wood-lined corridor framed like the ribs of an upturned hull, raised 15ft above the sea, so you seem to float over the water. Rooms use local stone, teak and work by Caribbean artists, and the headboards pick up the coloured stripes of the traditional Turks & Caicos dress, one stripe for each island.
There are 59 rooms and 73 residences, most of which can be rented for short stays. To eat and drink there's a punch-based lobby bar, Tamarà for bistro dishes with a Caribbean accent, Baie by the pool and Palmette, a café that also sells local goods. Runa Spa uses salt from the islands' salt-making tradition.
This comes from a design announcement, so there's nothing to book through the story yet. Worth watching if you'd like a reef and a sunset on the doorstep.
