Harry Nuriev's The Stage installation at Le Dalí, Le Meurice, Paris

The Paris-based designer turns the palace hotel's restaurant into a silver-strewn table for art, performance and a 24-seat tasting menu.

Harry Nuriev, the Russian-born designer behind Crosby Studios and Maison & Objet's Designer of the Year 2026, works by a rule he calls 'transformism': look again at what already exists rather than inventing from scratch. That has given us a sofa stuffed with unsold Balenciaga clothes, a dining set cast from old keyboards and, last year, a swap shop for unwanted objects in a chapel at Beaux-Arts de Paris.

His latest is The Stage, a takeover of the restaurant at a Paris palace hotel for Paris Art Week. The centrepiece is a dramatically lit, monumental communal table that doubles as a cabinet of curiosities, scattered with classical and contemporary objects coated in molten silver. Nuriev sees it as stage, dance floor, art platform and dining table in one, and says light has become one of his most exciting materials.

With the hotel's chefs Alain Ducasse and Amaury Bouhours, there is a ten-course, black-and-white tasting menu for just 24 guests, while the room runs as an all-day spot for breakfast, lunch and tea, with performances in the evenings. It runs through Paris Art Week, 20 to 25 October.

Worth a detour if you're in town for Art Basel Paris; with so few tasting seats, check availability early.
