The Den Bengaluru becomes Hilton's first LXR hotel in India
A 226-room Whitefield hotel joins Hilton's LXR collection, with a rooftop restaurant, a spa and walks through the neighbourhood's heritage bungalows.
The Den Bengaluru has joined LXR Hotels & Resorts, the first hotel from Hilton's luxury collection in India. Judging by the general manager's remarks, this is an existing Whitefield hotel taking on the LXR name rather than a new building. Its pitch is a pause amid the bustle of a big business district, a theme Hilton calls Pause in the Pulse.
There are 226 rooms, studios and suites, pitched at business trips, holidays and longer stays. Of the four places to eat, Layla, a rooftop restaurant with Indian and Mediterranean influences, sounds the most appealing. The Creek serves all-day dining, The Deli does speciality coffee and pastries, and The Cold Press is a juice counter. There is also The Sanctuary spa, a gym, an outdoor pool, a games room and a screening room called The Cave.
The more interesting part is Whitefield Unscripted, a programme of outings beyond the hotel. One is a verandah trail past heritage bungalows and long-standing local institutions. Another takes guests to a farm to pick produce, which the kitchen then turns into a meal.
This comes from Hilton's press release, so expect the gloss. It suits anyone working in Whitefield who wants more than a business hotel. The farm visit is worth asking about when you book.
