Thompson Rome, by Hyatt

Italy's first Thompson hotel occupies a reworked heritage building steps from Piazza Venezia and the Roman Forum, with 69 rooms in deep warm tones and a rooftop bar looking out over more than 20 landmarks.

The story

This building served as the headquarters of Italy's leading political party. It has since been fully reimagined as a luxury lifestyle hotel, with a conversion that respects the old structure. The interiors lean on Italian design: a masculine aesthetic of deep, warm tones, geometric lines and refined materials across 69 rooms, including 18 suites and the penthouse Thompson Suite, which has indoor and outdoor living space above the skyline. Many rooms have city views, balconies or private terraces. Food and drink run across three venues. Lyve Restaurant, on the sixth floor, takes its cue from the relaxed style of the French Riviera. The Lyve Rooftop Terrace offers 360-degree views over Rome's historic skyline and is set up for sunset cocktails. Downstairs, the Lobby Lounge focuses on contemporary mixology.
