High up in one of Delhi's tall buildings, local practice Mold Design Studio has completely rethought a 4,500 sq ft family apartment and called it Brickloom. The idea is a home in the sky that still feels like a rural retreat, with long views, generous rooms and a big outdoor space to escape to.

At its heart is a double-height room holding the living spaces and the main circulation. The flat's raw, industrial bones were kept, so exposed brick, metal detailing and crisp surfaces remain, but warmth has been worked in through teak and live-edge timber, brass pendants, cane and rattan, and hand-blocked textiles. Bouclé seating sits alongside artisanal wood-and-cane pieces, a Crittall-style glass screen closes off the home office, and olive, rust and cobalt pick out the nooks. A floating timber-and-steel staircase rises from the kitchen and dining area to the bedrooms, with an open balustrade keeping sightlines alive.

The roof terrace is the part you'd remember: ochre-washed walls, arched cobalt louvred shutters, cobbled floors and a pool that nod to the Greek islands. The designers describe it as a summer lounging spot that becomes a fireplace-and-barbecue gathering place in winter, glowing under fairy lights at night.

This is a private home, so there's nothing to visit, but it's a lovely study in softening an industrial shell for family life.
