Dolly Parton's SongTeller Hotel and museum open in downtown Nashville
A 240-room hotel and a museum of Dolly Parton's life, shaped with her input, now open together in Music City.
Dolly Parton has put her name to a hotel and a museum side by side in downtown Nashville, and by this press release's account she was closely involved in both, reviewing details, sharing memories and making creative calls along the way. SongTeller Hotel was created with Herschend, while the immersive studio AOA managed the hotel project and built the museum with Dolly, her niece Rachel Parton George and her team.
The hotel has 240 rooms and suites, a SongTeller Café, restaurants and live entertainment. Parton's Live sits at its centre as a celebration of her music and performing life, and on the top floor Jolene's, named for the song, is a smaller live music room.
Next door, Dolly's Life of Many Colors Museum opens on the night she was born, 19 January 1946, with Dolly herself guiding visitors in. It then follows her childhood in the Great Smoky Mountains, her early days in country music and the Opry, and her later fame in music and Hollywood, with rooms on family, fashion, faith and philanthropy. Executive director Rebecca Seaver called the project one that took "a great deal of heart".
For fans, this is the obvious Nashville base. Book shows at Parton's Live or Jolene's separately, and check the museum if you're planning a wedding or event there.
