Jaylen Brown was traded from the Boston Celtics to Philadelphia in July 2026, but he has held on to his Boston apartment. He lived in the city from 19 to 29 and says this is the place that felt most like home, because he shaped it himself. He bought the 4,000-square-foot space overlooking the Financial District at the end of 2023 and spent two years reworking it with interior designer Linda Zarifi of Zarifi Design.

His first instruction surprised her: no dining table. Instead there is a 22-foot suede banquette with custom glass and metal tables, used for meals, chess and most else. He also asked for openness, gold and a see-through wine cellar. Elsewhere you'll find a speakeasy with star ceiling lights, Apparatus sconces and a custom trophy case, a suede pool table, Italian marble bathroom floors, 24-karat fittings he calls "jewelry for the bathroom", bedding recreated from the Four Seasons and a hyperbaric chamber beside the bed.

The real centrepiece is an 18th-century harp. Brown hasn't taken lessons; instead Li Shan Tan, principal harp of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra, plays it for him. Zarifi says he splurged on what mattered most, including Simon Berger's cracked-glass portrait of his grandmother in the foyer.

A private home, so nothing to visit, but a lively read for anyone who likes interiors with a strong personal stamp.
