Desa Potato Head Bali

Fifteen years in the making, this zero-waste creative village on the Seminyak beachfront pairs suites in buildings by OMA and Andra Matin with the Potato Head Beach Club, a spa and a programme of art, music and craft.

The story

Andra Matin's AM House is built from 1.8 million hand-pressed terracotta bricks made by artisans in the village of Darmasaba, its walls shifting from soft morning tones to amber as the light changes. Inside are open-plan suites, internal gardens and a secluded pool. OMA House, at the heart of the village, has Ocean Suites facing the Indian Ocean and Sky Suites looking towards the mountains of northwest Bali. Rooms come with touches such as a cocktail-making kit and a built-in ice box. Breakfast offers Indonesian, international and plant-based options, often taken poolside above the ocean. Beyond the rooms are the Beach Club and its infinity pool, a gym, a spa, yoga and meditation classes, natural dye workshops and the Good Times General Store. Drinking water is made from desalinated seawater rather than drawn from the island's reserves.
