The story

Chéri Bibi bills itself as a place of wine and waves, a bar and kitchen pouring wines and cocktails, born of a passion for wine. The natural list leans regional, with plenty by the glass and the odd find such as a Georgian orange wine, and guests can step into the cave to pick their own bottle. The chef buys produce from the town and nearby farms and makes everything in-house, from fresh pasta to roasted almonds, and the menu changes weekly. Expect oeufs mimosa, terrine, sashimi or orecchiette in a green purée of spinach, wild garlic and gorgonzola, served on vintage plates. A five-person team runs the small room and a terrace under patio lights, and families are welcome alongside the evening crowd.

Good to know

TAGGG AI
  • Book ahead for a table, since the small room fills up; the bar is kept for walk-ins.
  • You can walk into the wine cave and choose your own bottle, with staff on hand to advise.
  • Dishes are medium-sized and meant for sharing, so coming with friends lets you work through most of the menu.
