The Lind Hotels, the Filipino brand best known for The Lind Boracay, is opening a resort in Coron, Palawan, in 2027. It's a homecoming of sorts. Coron was the company's first property purchase more than a decade ago and the place where the idea for the brand took shape, before it launched in Boracay instead.

The setting is the draw. Coron is all limestone cliffs, turquoise water, hidden lagoons and reefs, and there are Second World War shipwrecks just off the resort. The Lind Coron will have 91 rooms and villas, and the villas come with their own dipping pools and a dedicated host. Food centres on Yím, a modern Thai restaurant, and Crust, a Mediterranean spot beside the infinity pool with sea views and seating inside and out.

For slow days there's The Spa Wellness Coron, a well-known Philippine spa brand; for busier ones, an on-site dive centre and island-hopping. Celebrations have their own spaces too, from The Gallery, with room for 200 and views of the sea, to a roof deck with 360-degree views for weddings and proposals.

The company's COO says the aim is a resort that belongs to its landscape rather than competing with it. We'll look forward to seeing whether it does when it opens.
