Benjamin Moore has picked its colour of the year for 2027, and it isn't a new shade at all. Webster Green, a leafy mid-tone with soft blue-grey undertones, has long sat in the brand's Historical Collection. The team chose it, AD reports, as a quiet step back from the churn of social media micro-trends, a colour meant to last rather than to date.

The brand says its research found people want lasting style over quick fixes, drawing on the past to make their homes feel enduring and protective. Andrea Magno, who leads colour and marketing at Benjamin Moore, says the shade balances tradition with personality. Webster Green heads a wider 2027 palette of eight calm, familiar colours, including Shakespeare Tan, Antique Copper, the lilac Wild Aster, the olive Durango, Townsend Harbour Brown, White Down and Nelson Blue.

The designers Todd Nickey and Amy Kehoe of Nickey Kehoe call it a quiet but still dramatic green that feels reliable. Kehoe would put it, or Durango, on the walls under a lighter ceiling in Nelson Blue, or pair it with Shakespeare Tan on casings and ceiling for a room that wraps around you.

This is a brand announcement rather than anything to visit, but a useful starting point if you're planning to repaint a library or living room.
