Vin d'Alsace

A thirteen-square-metre wine bar brings Alsace to Pagrati, pouring small-producer Riesling, Gewürztraminer and Pinot Noir beside sardines, pickles and bread from a neighbourhood bakery.

The story

Kostis Karatzias, known for Pizza Dough in Koukaki, turned a tiny space on Varnava Square into a bar devoted entirely to Alsatian wine. Vin d’Alsace measures just thirteen square metres, with high ceilings and a narrow interior. A handful of people fit inside, with additional tables outside. The rotating list comes from small producers and spans Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, available by the glass or bottle. Food follows a similarly compact format: Monokeros bakery bread with salted butter and pickled cucumber, or tinned sardines with kimchi and saffron-pickled onion.
