Traversa

Pastitsio turned into crisp croquettes and Corfiot pastitsada over pappardelle set the tone at this relaxed Ambelokipi restaurant, where familiar Greek cooking meets Mediterranean and contemporary touches, backed by signature cocktails.

The story

The name means crossroads: of streets, people and flavours. The restaurant opened on 17 August under a new team of owners, who stripped out the room's past and rebuilt it from scratch, much of it with their own hands. The result is a cosy, easygoing space with tables both inside and out. The outdoor seats sit just off a busier main road, so they stay a little quieter. The kitchen keeps to familiar ground and adds Mediterranean and contemporary influences. Pastitsio croquettes come with a crisp crust. Diced potatoes are triple-fried for crunch. Corfiot pastitsada pairs tender beef in a thick homemade sauce with pappardelle. The wine list mixes Greek and international labels, and the cocktail list leans on signature drinks.
