Massa Lubrense

ROMEO Hotel Massa Lubrense

Kengo Kuma designed this hotel on the Punta San Lorenzo promontory, set within a private natural fjord facing Capri, as the third and most contemplative property in the ROMEO Collection.

The story

Punta San Lorenzo has drawn aristocrats, intellectuals, artists and travellers for over two thousand years. Kuma's design, called The Maa Project, takes its cue from the Japanese idea of Ma, the space of relationship between elements. Light, rock, sea and Mediterranean vegetation are meant to lead here, with the architecture stepping back from the landscape. Rooms and suites look across the Gulf of Naples toward Capri and Ischia, with balconies, walk-in showers, bespoke bedding and plenty of natural light; some come with a private pool. Guests can eat at Quattro Passi Restaurant or the Nerano Rooftop, and there is a Sisley Paris spa and a pool. Down in the fjord, the beach club takes a barefoot approach to the sea among the rocks and greenery.
