The story
Stratos Vlassopoulos gives Flaros the look of an old neighbourhood kafeneio, with a mosaic floor, wooden chairs and marble-topped tables. Large windows face the orange trees on Damareos Street. The single room is devoted to food and conversation, with Greek music as its soundtrack. The kitchen draws ingredients from small producers and cooks exclusively over fire. A small grill and wood-burning stove make that approach part of the working room. Tsipouro and wine accompany the Greek cooking, bringing the familiar drinks of a kafeneio to a restaurant with a more developed kitchen.
