Art cafe

Macchina
A Wan Chai gallery café built around a rotating display of rare cars on loan from private collections, paired with small-batch specialty coffee and Italian-leaning food.
The story
Macchina treats historically significant machines as exhibits. The car at the centre of the room changes periodically: an Aston Martin Valkyrie has held the spot, as has a Peugeot 908 LMP1 from the 2011 Le Mans 24 Hours, shown alongside racing helmets including Alonso's. The minimalist interior is done in grey metallic tones, with streamlined lines that echo the cars, and seating is intentionally limited. The coffee programme covers espresso, milk drinks and precision pour-overs from small-batch beans, some roasted in-house. The Frozen Dirty is the experimental signature: lactose-free milk concentrated in a rotary evaporator and frozen to minus 86 degrees, then paired with house-roasted Colombian coffee. The kitchen sends out handmade pasta, baked tagliolini with smoked ham, a pistachio mortadella sandwich and tiramisu soaked in coffee and hazelnut liqueur.
