Museum

Lucas Museum of Narrative Art
George Lucas and Mellody Hobson's museum treats art as storytelling, hanging Norman Rockwell and Maxfield Parrish beside comic strips, ancient Greek statues and Star Wars concept art inside Ma Yansong's sculptural building.
The story
Opened in September 2026, the museum rises from what was once an asphalt lot, with sculptural architecture by Ma Yansong and an evolving landscape by Mia Lehrer. Its collection of more than 1,000 works ranges from Frank Frazetta, Frank Miller and Grandma Moses to vintage comic strips, photography and film props. The Star Wars galleries show art by Ralph McQuarrie, Doug Chiang and Ryan Church, life-size vehicles and a bronze of Leia strangling Jabba the Hutt. Beyond the galleries, theaters run short films and documentaries continuously, and the second floor holds a free public research library where anyone can sit down with a book. There are interactive learning studios, a cafeteria, a Starbucks and rooftop dining. A park with sculptures lies at the southern end, near the Natural History Museum and the California Science Center.
