Kinhfolk
Robusta beans sourced directly from Vietnam anchor the menu at this small East Williamsburg coffee shop, where house-made syrups go into drinks like pandan coconut lattes, calamansi mist coffee and sea salt iced coffee.
The story
Kinhfolk signed its Williamsburg lease early, but long construction delays pushed the founders to change course. Instead of waiting, they turned the project into a mobile Vietnamese coffee cart that built a following through pop-ups, corporate events and neighbourhoods across New York City. The shop that finally opened is small and modern, and the owners describe it as their love letter to Vietnamese culture. Signature Vietnamese drinks fill the menu, among them a pandan matcha that is measured and whisked and a citrusy calamansi mist coffee with a foamy top. The owners also toast up their homemade pho recipe, everything but the bones and beef, and make a fall syrup. Espresso chocolate cookies sit alongside the drinks. The cart still travels to meetings and private events, with custom logos and latte stencils on offer.
