Hôtel Le Magnifique Paris
Behind the old Thousand Columns theatre facade on rue de la Gaîté, this Montparnasse boutique hotel pairs Vincent Darré's bold, colourful rooms with a rare Paris luxury: a heated indoor pool.
The story
Rue de la Gaîté has long been Montparnasse's theatre street, and this building was once one of its stages, the theatre of the Thousand Columns. Its facade still faces the street, while the interiors have been reworked by designer Vincent Darré with bold lines, vibrant colours and dreamlike details, and each floor takes a different decorative style. Rooms range from compact doubles and twins to family rooms made of two interconnected bedrooms. Behind the scenes, guests have a heated indoor pool, a hammam, a jacuzzi and a fitness room, unusual for central Paris. Breakfast brings fresh breads, fruit and hot dishes. Montparnasse station and tower are about 100 metres away, with Metro lines within minutes and Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Luxembourg gardens close by.
