Gamaya Farms
Compressed-mud buildings and tents sit amid greenery at this farm camp near Vikarabad, where evenings mean barbecue around a long-burning campfire and mornings start with a guided trek up the hill.
The story
Gamaya Farms sits in a quiet, secluded pocket near Vikarabad, within about a two-hour drive of Hyderabad. Architect Ratna Kiran, who also hosts, has shaped the site with eco-friendly structures of compressed mud alongside huts and tents for overnight stays, and the place welcomes pets. Days revolve around the outdoors. A sunrise trek climbs to a hilltop viewpoint and returns along a forest track, with a guide on hand for the steep descent, and colourful parrots gather in the trees on the hill. Evenings bring barbecued chicken, fish and vegetables, followed by a bonfire that can burn for hours under a starry sky. Bicycles and games fill the gaps, and overnight guests are served dinner, breakfast and lunch.
