Fowlescombe Farm

Ten suites in timeworn stone barns and a Victorian farmhouse sit on a 450-acre regenerative farm near Dartmoor, where the Michelin Key hotel's kitchen cooks from fields, woodland and gardens just footsteps away.

The story

Set in a peaceful valley in South Devon, Fowlescombe lets 500 years of farming guide its design: limewashed walls, estate-quarried stone and local materials throughout. Stays are full board, with long breakfasts, afternoon cake in the Farmhouse and a calendar of farm activities, from tours and cookery demonstrations to composting masterclasses and yoga. Children and dogs are welcome. In the Refectory, Executive Chef Elly Wentworth works alongside the farm and garden teams, and the menu follows what the land yields. Guests can watch bread being baked for dinner or pick botanicals for an evening gin. A handcrafted sauna by Devon makers Out of the Valley pairs with wild swimming in the farm's pond, and the Refectory also welcomes non-residents for dinner.
