Duke's Bar

Hôtel Westminster's English-club bar sits steps from Place Vendôme and the Palais Garnier, with mahogany woodwork, deep armchairs and a Gothic-style fireplace setting the scene for cocktails, afternoon tea and live jazz.

The story

Duke's Bar brings the look of a traditional English club into the intimate surroundings of Hôtel Westminster, a short walk from Place Vendôme and the Opéra. The menu runs from signature cocktails and classics to bar plates: French onion soup gratinéed with Beaufort, croque-monsieur, the Westminster burger, fish and chips, aged Charolais striploin with béarnaise, and vanilla crème brûlée. Manhattans arrive with almonds and olives. In the afternoon the room becomes the setting for the Westminster Afternoon Tea, with sweet creations, savoury bites and hot drinks. On Thursdays, singer Julianna Mester or saxophonist Gilles Barikovski, known for his work with Thomas Dutronc, plays jazz, soul and Latin standards with guitarist Emmanuel Picon. On Fridays, pianist Thierry Trotignon mixes jazz with popular classics.

Good to know

TAGGG AI
  • The room is small and fills up in the evening, though walk-ins without a reservation can still find a seat.
  • The French 75 and Pisco Sour stand out, and the croque-monsieur and hot chocolate make a good pairing.
  • Live music is not on every night, so come on a Friday evening for piano in the background.
