The story
Cornell Auctions, Objects & Trade is an old-fashioned auction house in Bellport village whose sales draw on fabulous homes, prestigious estates and friends near and far. The mix is eclectic: solid-wood furniture, artwork, books including lots of Shakespeare volumes, and pieces such as early Dutch Delft. New consignments arrive all the time, and its village window displays have featured Mica lamps. Its calendar has also included The Magpie and the Swans, a sale of Truman Capote's possessions. Auctions run monthly, with bidders either in the room or online. Owners Carlo and Roy pair real expertise with commentary sharp enough that some people come just to listen. Friday evening previews let buyers inspect lots and socialise before sale day, and the house also takes consignments from people selling art and furnishings.
