Cocoricò

Open since 1989 and a byword for techno since the nineties, Cocoricò in Riccione is built around a crystal pyramid whose lights and lasers frame international DJs on its main dance floor.

The story

Cocoricò opened in 1989 as more than a discotheque: a temple to music and freedom, with a pyramid as its emblem and the spot from which everyone wants to see the dawn. Its nineties nights, caught between transgression and artistic avant-garde, are the subject of Cocoricò Tapes, Francesco Tavella's documentary built from unseen VHS footage and interviews with the people who were there. Today the club spreads across several spaces. The large main room sits under the pyramid, lit by lasers and LED screens. An outdoor treetop garden stage keeps its sound separate from the rest, and two smaller rooms, the T-Room and Ciao Sex, round things out. Line-ups feature international names such as Carl Cox and Nico Moreno, and a shop sells limited-edition clothing.

Good to know

TAGGG AI
  • Big-name nights draw heavy crowds, so expect packed rooms, especially in the main pyramid room and the smaller T-Room.
  • Buy your ticket in advance, since tickets bought on the door cost noticeably more.
  • There are three stages, including an outdoor treetop garden where the music from the other rooms doesn't carry.
