Claude Pepper Park

Twelve tennis courts anchor this North Miami city park, which also packs in basketball, pickleball and padel courts, a ball field, a covered playground and a perimeter path busy with early walkers.

The story

Claude Pepper Park is a large neighbourhood park run by the City of North Miami, set just off 135th Street near I-95. Its tennis facility has 12 courts behind tall chain-link fencing with blue windscreens, plus a practice wall for ground strokes, and a pro shop handles court bookings and lessons. Pickleball and padel courts, two basketball courts and a baseball and softball field with bleachers round out the sports. In the evenings the fields host football practice and pickup basketball games. From early morning, walkers and joggers circle the paved path around the edge, roughly a mile per lap. Outdoor exercise stations and pull-up bars line the route. Families make use of the shaded tot-lot, picnic tables, pavilion and recreation building.

Good to know

TAGGG AI
  • Arrive early or reserve a tennis court through the pro shop, since tennis camps often occupy courts.
  • Walk the perimeter path early in the morning, when plenty of others are out and before the heat sets in.
  • The pickleball and padel courts are kept locked and must be reserved separately from the tennis courts.
