Cheval Blanc Courchevel

A 34-room Palace on the Jardin Alpin slope at Courchevel 1850, where ski butlers send guests straight onto the piste and Yannick Alléno's three-Michelin-starred 1947 anchors the dining.

The story

Behind a mustard exterior that hints at a traditional Savoyard chalet, the hotel trades carved hearts and cowbells for sleek contemporary shapes and a minimalist play of materials. Xavier Veilhan's abstract bear animates the large pool, Bruno Peinado's mirrored horse stands at the entrance, and an Andreas Gursky aerial print of skiers hangs behind reception. Rooms look over the Jardin Alpin and Bellecôte slopes or snowy chalet roofs, and their large bathrooms work as mini-spas, some with private hammams. Beginners can take the green runs from the door, while stronger skiers head down to La Croisette or out across the Trois Vallées. The Guerlain spa has a warm pool under a mirrored ceiling plus an outdoor hot tub and sauna. Days can also include dog sledding or guided forest walks, and evenings end by the fire in the lounge bar.
