Hotel

Castel Badia
On a hill in the Puster Valley, an 11th-century castle now works as a hotel, pairing historic rooms and Stuben with a mountain-inspired spa and a kitchen rooted in shared regional tradition.
The story
Castel Badia sits on a hilltop near San Lorenzo di Sebato, about 6 km from Brunico, at the heart of the Dolomites. Its rooms set the castle's long history beside contemporary comforts, and the spa takes its cue from the mountains, their pure air and their healing herbs. When the weather turns cool, guests gather in the Stuben to linger after rituals inspired by alpine life. The kitchen follows the seasons, from autumn cooking built around Puschtra Erdäpfel, the potatoes of the Puster Valley, to long summer days when the courtyard fills with live music and local food. The castle also works as a base for the valley around it: skiing, ice skating and winter walks in the colder months, hiking, cycling and paragliding when it warms up, and the markets and historic taverns of Brunico year-round.
