Casa Kiku Athens

Kolonaki's long-running Japanese restaurant Kiku, open since 1993, has been reworked as a house of salons, dining rooms and bars, keeping its precise kitchen while inviting guests to linger over sake and cocktails.

The story

Kiku opened in Kolonaki in 1993 and introduced Athens to a Japanese table of precision and restraint. As Casa Kiku it keeps that kitchen and its history, but guests now enter a house and choose where to settle. Two salons have deep armchairs, low marble tables, brass lamplight and art books left open. Three dining rooms suit different evenings: the full Kiku dinner, a secluded room for celebrations, and a marble table for long meals with larger groups. Of the two bars, one is theatrical, with the ceiling as its centrepiece. The other is an intimate counter for cocktails, sake and late conversation. Kiku Ka-fe serves coffee and light bites from early morning. The Athens house follows Casa Mykonos, its sister on the island, minus the guest rooms.

Good to know

TAGGG AI
  • The black cod is a standout dish, and the Negroni is a recommended cocktail.
  • Cocktails are made to order and personalised, so it is worth talking to the bartender about what you like.
  • The rooms are dim, quiet and private, which suits a romantic dinner or an evening with friends.
