Casa Gallareta

Architect-owners designed, built and furnished these minimalist cabins in a native arrayán forest on the edge of Villa La Angostura, linked by raised wooden walkways and looking out over Lake Correntoso.

The story

Each cabin is a modern take on the forest cabin: a loft-style space with floor-to-ceiling windows, a double-height ceiling and a mezzanine for looking out into the trees and toward the mountain and lake. Arrayanes grow between the houses and walkways, and the interiors pair noble materials with comfortable furniture, a fully equipped kitchen and a bathtub big enough for two. Outside, every cabin has its own fire pit with a grill, and a path leads straight down to a private beach on Lake Correntoso, where the shallow water lets you wade out to a platform. The property sits at the start of a national park trail, and the owners, who work on site, share tips on where to eat, shop and walk around town.
