The story

Bar Ideal draws on European listening rooms, with hi-fi sound, low lighting and records ranging from jazz to rock. Also known as Not in Athens, it occupies a corner on Kiafas Street in Exarcheia. Tables extend into the pedestrian lane, giving the compact room an outdoor counterpart. The drinks include Smoked Ruby, combining tequila and pomegranate, and the beetroot-led Crimson and Clover. Coffee brings a daytime use to the bar, while the evening pairs cocktails with vinyl and DJ sets. The music programme is as much a part of the place as the drinks.
