Avocado House - Sculptural Joshua Tree Icon
Shaped around a sweeping curved canopy, this hillside rental above Joshua Tree's boulder-strewn hills wraps a crescent courtyard with pool, spa and fire pit, framing mountain and desert views toward the national park.
The story
Avocado House takes its name from the curved "avocado" canopy that defines its form. Run by boutique hospitality brand Fieldtrip, the three-bedroom home sleeps up to eight and sits in a hillside community central to Yucca Valley, Pioneertown and Joshua Tree. Its open-air crescent courtyard holds a custom pool and spa, an outdoor propane fire pit, poolside loungers, a cactus garden and outdoor sculptures. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors run throughout, linking the courtyard to an open-plan great room with an indoor fireplace, a dining area and a chef's kitchen built around an oversized island. Interiors use sculptural furnishings, custom lighting, soft organic forms and muted desert tones. Upstairs, a lofted lounge with a pool table looks over the main living space and out across the desert. Two of the king bedrooms open onto the pool area.
