195 District Park

Split across both banks of the Providence River and stitched together by a pedestrian bridge, this seven-acre park is downtown's gathering spot for strolls, sunsets, beer-garden afternoons and free community events.

The story

The Michael S. Van Leesten Memorial Pedestrian Bridge links the east and west halves of the park, which sits at the centre of Providence's growing 195 District and joins with Point Street Park. Green space and riverside paths open onto views of the river and skyline, making it a natural route for lunchtime walks, picnics and sunset watching. The Guild runs a beer garden here, food trucks and an ice cream vendor turn up in the warmer months, a year-round food and beverage pavilion opened in 2026, and a Seven Star counter serves warm drinks and pastries. The calendar is busy with public programming, from pop-up play sessions with Big Blue Blocks, hula hoops and lawn games to larger gatherings such as Providence Pride, Rally for Recovery and Oysterfest.
